Lacey is now the largest city in Thurston County. We have done a great job in addressing the needs of our community members but we have a lot of work to do. Community issues don’t stop at our city borders. We have unsafe camps along our highways and city streets that grow or move rapidly. For too long each city has address this crisis in different ways but it cant be fixed like that. We need work together as a county and community to develop fair rules that promote help for those willing to accept it, provide a safe way for homeless to get back on their feet and contribute to the community, and prevent those who are just here to cause problems for being able to repeatedly do so. This isn’t a homeless issue, a policing issue, or mental health issue, its a community issue and we have to all work together.
