Two of the largest decisions facing the city council in the past few years have been the approval of land use cases for Hicks Lake and Meridian Market. Frankly I feel like the council let down the people in both of these cases. There was overwhelming disapproval of these projects by the actual community as well as what I believe were many failures along the approval process. City Council members are here to serve the people. I would have been against both of these projects. Furthermore the excuse of not allowing community input because of the “quasi judicial” role of the council I feel was misunderstood and used against the citizens. In addition there was the opportunity to change this rule and allow more communication with the city residents and again it was voted against by the same people, including my opponent, who approved both land use decisions. If elected my job is to represent your voice and that’s what i’m committed to doing.
